What is a Practice Mixer?
No doubt it is fun to go dancing but it is no fun to look awkward and clumsy in from of other people. That is where our Practice Mixers solve that problem.
The Practice Mixer is a safe net area where you can practice what you have learned in your lessons in a social condition.
Granted, the Practice Mixer looks like and feels like a party and so it should. Who wants to go out for an evening of dancing in a non party atmosphere?
Although it will seem very scary, we recommend you start attending the Practice Mixers from your very first lesson.
There are many good reasons to attend the Practice Mixers. Here are just a few:
- the sooner you get over the initial nervousness the easier it is to be seen dancing in public,
- even if you only know a little about one dance you are going to learn more at the Mixer Lesson,
- the Practice Mixers are the best time to ask questions as the lessons are some times too busy with material,
- meeting the other dance members and seeing others dancing at different levels helps give you a better idea where your dancing can go,
and
- everyone at the Practice Mixer was a beginner at one time and are all willing to help you reach your dance goal.
So, come on and join the FUN!
7:30 Dance Lesson
We start our Mixer with a 45 minute dance lesson teaching the basic movement so everyone can enjoy the lesson. Then moving on to a pattern or variation.
We always serve refreshments so please allows us a few minutes to put them out.
8:30 to 10:00 General Dancing
We have created Cd's with a wide variety of music to cover all the basic dances plus additional Cd's for special request dances.
Doors open: 7:20
Lesson: 7:30 to 8:15
Dancing 8:30 to 10:00
Cost: $10.00 per person.
